- Are you a mid career professional or do you know someone who is?
- Are you new to local government but not new to management?
- Are you ready to connect with other mid career professionals to identify and develop signature leadership practices and strengthen core management skills?
- Are you looking for your next challenge?
If you answered yes then we invite you to join the 2013-2014 ICMA Mid Career Managers Institute (MCMI). This is a one-year Leadership Development Program designed to meet the specific needs of mid career managers. The MCMI began with a pilot program in 2012.
The overall objective of the MCMI is to enhance and develop participants’ leadership abilities and effectiveness. This is accomplished by providing: broader understanding of their responsibilities as leaders; perspective on some of the critical leadership and management issues facing mid-career managers; and understanding and awareness of concepts and techniques relevant to local government management. Persons interested in receiving more information should email Felicia Logan, ICMA Director of Leadership Development or Felicia Littky, ICMA Program Manager, Membership & Professional Development.

MCMI members should plan to attend their Regional Summit in the Spring of 2013. Participants will gather as a group for a no-host lunch with Felicia Logan, ICMA Director of Leadership Development during the Regional Summit. For information about the Regional Summits visit the ICMA website. Regional Summits include an ICMA-University Workshop, where MCMI members will gather with other Summit attendees for a session of learning. The Regional Summit registration fee is included in your MCMI dues.
In addition to attending the Regional Summit, MCMI participants will be expected to attend the ICMA 99th Annual Conference in Boston, MA in September 2013 (registration fee included in MCMI dues). Each year, through its highly praised Annual Confernce, ICMA continues its tradition of offering an abundance of educational, information-sharing, and networking tools to help you manage your community in today's complex environment. MCMI participants will greatly benefit from registering for an ICMA University Workshop or Leadership Institute Session at the annual conference (additional fee).
E-learning sessions will occur throughout the duration of the MCMI. As well, each MCMI participant will be assigned a credentialed manager to serve as his/her coach.
The MCMI program has a tuition fee of $1500 which includes the registration fee for both the Regional Summit (with workshop) and the Annual Conference. Register before 2/28/13 to receive a $100 discount!
We are identifying mid career as those who hold leadership positions in their organizations, military, public/private sector, academies; and managers/assistants not ready to be credentialed but looking for their next challenge.
