Discover San José!: 300 days of sunshine and 4 days of them belong to ICMA!
Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, San José, California is a warm, sophisticated city with great weather, walkable streets, and an atmosphere offering both culture and entertainment. What’s more, it is the location for the 2010 ICMA Annual Conference, October 17–20. San José takes pride in the cultural and ethnic diversity of its population, and the unique and vibrant identity of its neighborhoods as well as housing 6,600 technology companies, the largest concentration of technology expertise in the world.

San José is a fantastic location for the ICMA conference, offering a cleverly planned, compact downtown that's packed with great restaurants, hotels, artistic performances, nightclubs, and shopping - just minutes from the city's easy-to-manage Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). San José is often ranked as the safest big city in the nation; so conference attendees can feel free to stroll its streets securely when taking in the sights after dark. What's more, delegates need not worry about the temperamental weather associated with some of San José's neighbors: The city offers the best weather in northern California with lots of clear, sunny skies and comfortable temperatures year-round.

San José is one of the most environmentally responsible cities in the United States, and it is the number one recycler among the nation's largest cities. The McEnery Convention Center is one of the few West Coast centers that have the ability to recycle or compost most products used at the convention center and cultural facilities. It is working to become a local Certified Green Business. And the convention center is also one of the most technologically advanced meeting facilities in the U.S. The Hilton San José and San José Marriott hotels are physically connected to the convention center and will house many of the ICMA meetings. Other hotel options within a two-block radius are the historic Sainte Claire Hotel; the world-class Fairmont, the newly updated Crowne Plaza, as well as the boutique Montgomery Hotel. Just minutes from the airport and quick light-rail trip away from downtown San José and the convention center are the Holiday Inn-San José and Wyndham San José hotels.
