ICMA University / Annual Conference

An Invitation from the 2011 Host Committee Chairs

On behalf of the 2011 Conference Host Committee, we are thrilled to invite you to Milwaukee for ICMA’s 97th Annual Conference.

With its Midwest location, the Milwaukee conference promises to be accessible and affordable. To be sure, the ICMA Conference Planning Committee has put together a solid educational program. As for the social program, we believe Milwaukee will knock your socks off . . . and we’re not talking the bobby socks from the “Happy Days” impression that Milwaukee may call to mind.  Sure, we’ve got The Fonz . . . and we have beer, bratwurst, and Old World traditions. But in 2011, we also have a city that is sophisticated, diverse, and surprisingly cosmopolitan.

Milwaukee is a city that celebrates its roots as an industrial-based metropolis and maintains a strong manufacturing base. Equally so, Milwaukee is embracing the 21st century. Today’s commerce also includes such endeavors as freshwater technologies, sustainability ventures, and world-class businesses.

Our social events will give you a taste of Milwaukee’s past, present, and future. They will feature the Milwaukee Public Museum, a renowned natural history museum; the Harley-Davidson Museum, a tribute to motorcycling that’s for both riders and nonriders alike; and Discovery World, a fresh-water aquarium and technology center overlooking Milwaukee’s beautiful Lake Michigan lakefront.

Milwaukeeans love to socialize. After all, this is the “City of Festivals.” So when you join us in Milwaukee, we’ll make sure that the programs and networking you seek from your conference attendance are enhanced by our city’s relaxed manner and enthusiasm to celebrate life.

See you in Milwaukee!
