ICMA has extensive resources designed to meet the professional development needs of local government staff--whether they are embarking on a career, assuming additional management responsibilities, or seasoned managers sharpening their skills.
Web conferences
How Web conferences work: After you register, you'll get an email confirmation with your dial-in instructions, which includes a toll-free number. A few days prior to the Web conference, you'll receive an email with a link to download the presentation materials, which you can copy for your entire staff.
On the day of the Web conference, dial into the toll-free number and listen in via speakerphone. In the last 30 minutes, you'll get a chance to ask the speakers questions directly.
Fee: The registration fee is $149 (ICMA members) or $249 (nonmembers). If you are an ICMA member, you'll need your Member ID to get the member price.
There is no limit to the number of staff from your office participating in this Web conference. One registration fee lets your entire staff listen in via speakerphone. (Your registration fee covers one phone line to dial in to the webconference. Additional phones will require a separate registration).
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration up to 48 hours in advance of the webconference, and transfer your registration to a future webconference without penalty. If you do not transfer your registration, you must cancel no later than one week prior to the Web conference date to receive a full refund of your fee.
Web Workshops
Learning in the Comfort and Convenience of Your Own Office
With tight budgets and, in many cases, a travel moratorium, it’s a challenge to continue to provide necessary professional development for your staff. Web workshops are the high-quality, lower-cost solution you’ve been asking for.
With ICMA University’s Web workshops, you get low-cost training for your staff without having to worry about travel budgets. ICMA Web workshops provide leadership and management skill-building professional development in a half-day format, with breaks for case study review and discussion among your staff. It’s the same high-quality content and training as the ICMA University Workshops To Go, provided over the phone and Internet, with staff from other jurisdictions participating from their locations.
One low registration fee ($395 for ICMA members, $595 for nonmembers) allows an unlimited number of staff from your office to participate in the half-day workshop by gathering in a training room at your location and dialing in to a toll-free number on speakerphone. You also will log in to the session on the Internet, where you will view the PowerPoint presentation. During the Web workshop, you will get a chance to have discussions with your staff about case studies, ask questions of and interact with the Web workshop leader and other participating organizations/jurisdictions.
Customization: We can customize any ICMA U workshop for Web training for your local government or organization, for an additional fee; contact Debbi Reid at dreid@icma.org for additional information.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration up to 48 hours in advance of the workshop and transfer your registration to a future Web workshop without penalty. If you do not transfer your registration, you must cancel no later than one week prior of the workshop date to receive a full refund of your fee.
