Tools Used to Strengthen Communication with Citizen

A locality is looking for ways others are positively increasing the impact of communication between citizens and their local government, especially with social media, to strengthen community engagement.

Social media is not a magic bullet to strengthen community engagement. The digital divide is still a reality for many Americans. Not knowing specifics of the community I would suggest that the staff and local leaders get a good understanding of how "connected" their community actually is. Also not certain about the motivation for this communication strategy. Perhaps the community already has asked the question what they hope\intend to accomplish or improve by using social media. And how they will know if that strategy is succeeding.
