The City of San Antonio is in the planning phase of a new "Yard Waste Program," and we are currently looking into several different options.
One such option would be a program that gets residents to mulch and compost yard waste (and appropriate food waste) in their back yards.
The idea is to avoid creating a costly and polluting collection scheme, while at the same time significantly reducing the amount of yard and food waste that ends up in a landfill.
Does anyone have/know of examples of such programs that have been effective in promoting home composting on a large scale?
