A Florida member is interested in any information or recent studies that have been done on governments that have consolidated their inspection services or created an Inspections department? This would include but not limited to org charts, methodologies supporting the consolidations, dept. descriptions, etc. Please respond here or directly to tmiller@transformgov.org. Thank you.

Fairfax County has a newly created Department of Code Compliance.
The new department's mission is to investigate neighborhood quality of life complaints, involving most zoning, noise, property maintenance, building, fire, blight, grass and health codes. The department consolidates many of the county’s code enforcement activities into a single agency.

The City of Carrollton has operated with a consolidated building services operation for years. It has been very successful in expeding new developments and redevelopments.
