Pamela Muse asked

Jon Ruiz, City Manager, City of Eugene, OR., is interested in learning what other local governments are doing to provide support and services to veterans reintegrating back into the community. Such as, housing, social services, job training, and the like.

Eugene has a robust, community centric program and would like to see what others are doing that will help expand this important work. As well, Jon is pleased to share the efforts in place in Eugene to interested agencies.

Please send any information you have (documentation, web links, etc.) to me and I will combine the replies and share the findings.

Thank you for your time!

I would suggest coordinating with local Veteran's advocacy Agencies in addition to working with the Dept of Veterans Affairs. There are A LOT of services available to Veterans through the VA and partnering agencies, but sometimes awareness of what's available is the biggest barrier.

Bytheway, I work for the Dept of Veterans Affairs and know how vital it is that we work with local community agencies in support of our Veterans. A good place to start with the VA is through the homeless program at your local VA.

Hope this helps!

I would recommend starting with contacting your county veteran service officer.
