Question

HELP! Need Time Clock Punch Elimination

  0

Does anyone still use the punch clock method for trade staff? We are trying to get rid of this system which seems to represent low trust between managers and employees. We now use two systems (manual punch clock and online time records) because some of the mangers do not trust their staff to enter their hours correctly. We are looking for the analysis or a success story to support elimination of the manual punch clock. Do you know where to locate this information?

I think any organization that manages by outcomes/results should have examples. The concept of "smashing the clock" has been growing in popularity, where the hours you actually work are no longer measured but rather the output of the team's efforts. This has been called a "results-only" framework. This article is a little old now, but quite good: http://buswk.co/I9oUXd

I've seen local government examples as well, and if I can find I'll post.

Mesa is moving to positive pay based on clocking in and we are going towards Kronos and time terminals. It it appears to be opposite of your direction. We expect to see significant cost savings as we get more accurate in recording our staff's time actually worked.
