To create a new blog post on the Knowledge Network, go to Blogs > New blog post. You'll find the same link on the Knowledge Network home page and other pages on the site:
Select your blog
Once on the form to create a new blog post, select which blog you would like your post to appear on.
- Profile Blog Every Knowledge Network user can quickly publish a blog post under their own profile without setting up a separate blog by selecting "My Posts." These posts will appear in your profile, and each post will have your name at the top.
- Named Blog If you are a contributor to a group blog on the Knowledge Network, like In the Know or the ICMA Annual Conference Blog, you will see that blog in the drop down menu. If you select a named blog, your post will be published directly to that blog. Learn more about starting a new group blog.

Create your post
Once you have selected your blog, use the form to enter a title and the body of your post. Format your text using the tools on the editor bar.

To add images anywhere in the body text, use the Insert image button (the tree icon at the pointer in the image above), on the editor bar. You will be able to upload a JPEG, GIF, or PNG image from your computer. Use the image tool to add a caption, credit, and ALT tag (the text that appears when you mouse over the image). Select the format to place the image in your text and click Insert Image.

Change Time of Publication
If you want to delay the publication of a blog post (say, to have a pre-written post appear immediately after an event), enter a publication time in the Publish later field.

Note: You can view and edit your unpublished posts, including posts scheduled to appear in the future, by editing your profile and selecting the Blogs tab. Learn more.
Add Topics and Tags
Make sure your post appear on Knowledge Network topic pages by adding all relevant Topics. Learn more about topics.

Blogs also use Other Tags to help organize similar posts and make it easier for readers to find them. Type your tags here, and you'll be able to select from existing tags, or add your own.

Publish or Save Your Post
When you're ready, you can publish your post or save it as a draft. If you chose to save it as a draft, you'll be able to edit and publish it later by editing your profile and selecting the unpublished post on the Blogs tab. Learn more.
Note: If you have selected a publish later time in the future and click Publish this post, your post will then appear at the time you selected, not immediately.
