This article presents survey results from the ICMA Council-Manager Task Force that evaluate the changing nature of the local government manager’s role. Examines the manager’s role in implementing policies, communicating policy to staff, and assisting elected officials in policy making. Addresses the role of the chief elected official and anticipated future trends in the local government manager’s role.
