Strategies to Combat Childhood Hunger in Four Cities

Case Studies 0f Boston, New Haven, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

by The United States Conference of Mayors and Sodexo

The Conference of Mayors and Sodexo produced a publication which goes into great depth in describing initiatives that are demonstrating success in four cities and that have the potential to serve as models for other cities confronting a childhood hunger problem made significantly worse by the downturn in the U.S. economy. Mayors recognize that the job losses resulting from the current deep economic recession have exacerbated family and childhood hunger problems in cities throughout the nation and will continue to do so for years to come, and that the current pressure on governments and other public and private agencies to provide food to families in need can only grow.
