The National Association of Counties Achievement Award for Innovations in Managing Unconventional Household Hazardous Waste recognized the achievement of the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department’s Hazardous Waste Collection, Petroleum Management, and Pollution Prevention Programs in developing innovative and proactive initiatives that address hazardous waste challenges in the area of electronic waste, pharmaceutical waste, and home heating oil collection. The following case study discusses the innovative program.
