Fire and EMS Organizational Performance Evaluation and Staff Satisfaction Analysis

The Town of Falmouth has a department that combines Fire with Emergency Medical Services, and this department is traditionally staffed by high numbers of volunteers. In 2007, the Town Manager and leaders from Fire-EMS found that they would have to hire more full time staff to solve departmental problems like leadership, communication, employee satisfaction, and public perception. The Town then conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the department, and through it management was able to restructure the department, solve its problems, while keeping the volunteer tradition.
