Interesting session on health and wellness services at the worksite led by CIGNA Medical Group and CIGNA Onsite Health Vice President Henri Cournand. I learned how employers in the public sector have an opportunity to positively impact the current health of their workforce and help employees reduce the likelihood of escalating disease.
Employers may want to offer one of the following options, such as Health and Wellness Centers; Lifestyle Programs; and Education and Screening. Employers are able to create plans to meets their specific needs. These types of programs have many potential benefits to employers including higher employee productivity, less time spent out-of-office receiving health services; and less absenteeism.
Henri also highlighted the convenience and flexibility onsite health capabilities offer employees. He encouraged local government mangers to partner with their jurisdiction’s health insurer to improve the overall health and well-being of their employee population and reduce medical costs by developing onsite health programs.
