Men, Women, Work and the Will to LEAD
The lessons of Lean In are directly applicable to young professionals in local government so come prepared to learn new strategies and to share stories of when you chose to step up (or not) at work, at home, and at play. This session is all about building individual effectiveness that can be applied in your organization and your life regardless of your gender. Remember that “careers are jungle gym, and not a ladder” (Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead). Reading the Sheryl Sandberg in advance will enhance the discussion, but you can participate fully without having read the book.
- Workshop Leader: Felicia Logan, ICMA leadership development director
- Special Guests:
- Simon Farbrother, ICMA President, City Manager, Edmonton, AB, Canada
- Jim Bennett, Manager, Prescott Isle, ME, and incoming ICMA President
