Ad Rates Changing Soon
Note that ad rates have been revised slightly if you require ICMA to upload an ad for you. We will be launching a totally new and reprogrammed job center later this year with a revised price plan (no more word count!). Stay tuned, and email careers@icma.org if you would like to be included in a beta test of the new platform.
ICMA's JobCenter offers two options for placing job vacancies: online only, and online + newsletter. To have your ad appear immediately online after you enter it, you must pay for it after you enter it by credit card. We offer purchase order invoicing, but that can delay your ad posting by up to 48 hours. Using a purchase order requires some special instructions, available in the Employer FAQ.
Online only ad:
- Duration: 30 days
- Cost: $250
- Word Count: Unlimited
- Renewal for 30 additional days: $200
Online + Newsletter:
- Duration: 30 days online, and one issue of a newsletter
- Online Word Count: Unlimited
- Newsletter Word Count:
- 1-100 words: $250
- 101-200 words: $400
- Up to 300 words: $500
- Renewal for 30 additional days: $200 (online)
The prices under Online + Newsletter are per newsletter. For example, a 100-word ad placed online and in two issues of the ICMA Newsletter would cost $500 ($250 per issue times two issues). A 300-word ad placed in two issues of the ICMA Newsletter would cost $1,000 ($500 per issue times two issues), and would appear online for 60 days.
The best value is a 100-word ad in one issue of a newsletter, and unlimited copy in your online ad - all for $250.
Newsletter ads are limited by word count to keep overall length down and improve readibility of the ads and the overall newsletter. The cost is the same for either the JOB or the ICMA Newsletter.
ICMA SUPPORTED Ad Entry
The prices above reflect the employers completing the job entry process on their own. ICMA is happy to assist, but there is a $100 fee for full ad entry: ICMA staff enters the job completely, from an e-mailed file (faxes not accepted), including newsletter placement/copyediting, and preparing and sending an invoice. For example, a 100-word ad placed online and in the ICMA Newsletter with full staff support would generate an invoice of $350.
When an employer completes the ad entry process and follows the purchase order payment option instructions, this $100 fee will be waived and you will still receive an invoice.
This fee is not applied when assisting customers with technical issues, such as password, login, or other errors. The system was designed to be completely customer-centric, so employers can create an account, enter an ad, and pay by credit card without the need of customer support (barring any system errors or technical issues).
Which Newsletter?
The ICMA Newsletter is sent biweekly to members only. The Job Opportunities Bulletin (JOB), also biweekly, is published on alternate weeks (when the ICMA Newsletter is not published), and distributed to subscribers, including nonmembers. If your job is a CAO or senior management listing, we recommend using the ICMA Newsletter at a minimum, and both if your budget allows.
Did you know? Intern ads are free!
If you're advertising for an internship or fellowship, just enter your advertisement into the JobCenter. E-mail advertising@icma.org and request to have your intern ad activated and you will not be charged. You can also place your ad in either newsletter. What a deal!
