Host a Fellow in Your Community

I think that the LGMF program is one of the best things that ICMA has ever done. Given the quality of the Fellows that the process presents and the value that they have added, I intend to participate in this program over and over again. ~ Jim Ley, County Manager, Sarasota County, Florida

Rafal Hejne, 2007 Fellow; San Jose, California

Are you going to get one of the nation's top MPA/MPP graduates?

Top MPA students from a nearby university may have applied directly to work in your community as well as to the Fellowship program.  Joining the LGMF grants you access to these and other top quality candidates from schools nationwide. LGMF finalists are top MPA/MPP graduates screened by city and county managers, alumni Fellows, and academics with a shortlist sent directly to you for consideration and interview.

Fellows assume real responsibility, thrive in an environment that recognizes potential, and gain unique exposure to local government. Fellows are master's graduates and bring skills and expertise to work on a variety of projects that contribute to your organization far beyond that of a summer intern.  Think of this as a management apprenticeship to help build the future of local government management.

To host a Local Government Management Fellow, all ICMA requires to start the process is a completed Letter of Intent to host; submit the letter early to have your commuity listed when students apply in September. Explore the Benefits of Hosting for more details on projects Fellows have managed for their host communities.
