Horry County Government is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented professional to lead its public safety division in delivering the highest quality public safety services that maximize the quality of life for the community and its citizens.

Horry County is situated on the northeast coast of South Carolina and includes the popular family-oriented tourist destination of Myrtle Beach. With a population of almost 300,000, it is the largest county in South Carolina with a land mass of 1,134 square miles.

Comprising 1,389 employees, the position will direct the County’s management, planning, coordination, budget and daily operations of Horry County’s Public Safety Division in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by County Council. Under limited supervision, it will manage and direct activities and functions of the public safety division, which includes, but is not limited to, the following departments: Fire, Police, Emergency Management, E-911; in addition, the position will coordinate county functions with multiple elected and appointed offices
