Life, Well Run - A Public Awareness Campaign

What is Life, Well Run?

Life, Well Run is a campaign to raise awareness of and appreciation for the value professional managers bring to building effective local government and great communities.  The campaign begins this spring in pilot communities, and will expand to other communnities throughout the United States in 2013.

why the campaign – why now?

  • There is a persistent lack of awareness of the value and role of professional local government managers.
  • Demographic shifts point to the need to attract new managers to the profession in the near future.
  • The opportunity presented by ICMA's upcoming 100th anniversary to showcase the profession.
  • With extraordinary challenges facing the federal and state governments, community members and government professionals can make a difference at the local level.

What Are the Campaign's Goals?

  • Define the role of professional local government managers.
  • Raise awareness about how professional managers improve the quality of life in our communities.
  • Attract talented young people to careers in professional local government management.
